2048 Strategy for Consistent Merges
Learn corner anchoring, edge ordering, and risk-aware moves to keep late boards under control.
Anchor the Largest Tile
Pick one corner as your anchor and keep the largest tile there whenever possible. New tiles then move around the outside, making merge routes easier to read.
Keep an Ordered Edge
Build a descending line along the edge with your largest tile. This reduces the chance that small tiles break your key positions.
Limit Reverse Moves
Reverse moves can pull the largest tile out of the corner. Use them only when you can restore shape immediately or complete an important merge.
FAQ
Do I need to use only two directions?
No. The goal is shape control; a third direction helps organize, while the fourth should be rare.
